Description For Data Engineer

Nielsen is seeking an organized, detail-oriented team player to join the OpIntel team as a Data Engineer. The role involves working on Nielsen's Audience Measurement Engineering platforms, which support television viewing measurement in over 30 countries worldwide.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional skills in programming, testing, debugging, and problem-solving, along with effective communication and writing abilities. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Designing, developing, testing, and supporting complex data engineering software solutions for analytical data storage (AWS Data Lake, Data Warehouse).
  2. Understanding the big picture in an End-to-End data environment, including upstream system data and downstream consumption requirements.
  3. Adopting standard platform tools for source code management, CICD, orchestration, monitoring, and alerting (GitLab, Airflow, Jenkins, etc.).
  4. Working on AWS cloud infrastructure in a DevOps capacity, including automating the deployment and scaling of EMR, EC2, S3.
  5. Participating in technical planning and requirements gathering phases, including discovery, design, code, test, and documentation.
  6. Demonstrating development best practices to ensure the quality and sustainability of software deliverables.
  7. Supporting Testing and UAT phases and participating in Deployment.

As a Software Engineer on Nielsen Engineering's OpIntel Team, you'll be part of a collaborative group of skilled Software Engineers dealing with a wide variety of Nielsen data from TV, Digital/Internet, and Radio monitoring businesses. You'll work closely with offshore team members in the software development lifecycle process, designing and building complex data-driven applications and processes to ensure accurate data generation from Nielsen's measuring systems.

Responsibilities For Data Engineer

Requirements For Data Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering or related field (foreign equivalent acceptable)
  • 5 years of experience in software development using Python and SQL for data pipelines/ETL/ELT
  • 5 years of experience designing OLAP and S3 object store data architecture
  • 3 years of experience with AWS DevOps, Python, Spark
  • Some experience with Test Automation and CICD Pipeline Development
  • Exceptional skills in programming, testing, debugging, and problem-solving
  • Effective communication and writing skills
