Nielsen, a global measurement and data analytics company with nearly 14,000 associates, is seeking a DevOps Engineer 2 to join their team in Bengaluru, India. This role is part of a team that develops software running on over 100k computers worldwide, measuring panelists' activities as they surf the Internet.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in increasing delivery speed, improving code quality and security, and optimizing processes for the development team. Your focus will be on cost avoidance and security, and you'll be responsible for making performance improvements to a system that processes massive amounts of data 24/7.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with developers to assess and solve problems
  • Proactively resolving bottlenecks and production issues
  • Participating in improvement projects for delivery time, code quality, and process efficiency
  • Performing daily tasks such as environmental health checks and monitoring
  • Deploying applications using automated CI/CD pipelines with security assessments
  • Automating repetitive tasks using tools like Terraform
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and other DevOps teams

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A degree in Computer Science or related field
  • At least 2 years of experience with UNIX-based environments
  • Proficiency in tools like Python, Shell Scripting, SQL, Docker, and various AWS services
  • Understanding of CI/CD principles and tools
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Responsibilities For DevOps Engineer 2

  • Work closely with developers to assess existing problems and come up with solutions
  • Resolve bottlenecks and production issues proactively
  • Participate in planning delivery time, code quality, and process efficiency improvement projects
  • Perform daily tasks such as environmental health checks, data storage monitoring, and environmental costs
  • Deploy application releases into non-prod and production environments using automated CI/CD pipelines
  • Automate repetitive manual DevOps tasks using tools such as Terraform
  • Collaborate with other DevOps teams to build a community of practice
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a cohesive approach to software development
  • Support the implementation of security best practices for on-prem and AWS environments

Requirements For DevOps Engineer 2

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in UNIX-based environments
  • Experience with tools such as Python, Shell Scripting, Oracle/RDS/SQL, S3 Lifecycle, Docker, EKS, EMR, EC2, Airflow, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana, Spotfire, & OpsGenie
  • Good understanding of CI/CD principles and tools (GitLab a plus)
  • Good problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to innovate solutions within a group
