We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Engineering Manager to join our data team at Nielsen. This role will be crucial in providing a range of services and expertise to all business verticals within Gracenote, a Nielsen company. The successful candidate will collaborate with various team leaders, including Data Engineers, DBAs, DevOps Engineers, Security professionals, and Data Science team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, build, and deploy data platform & related solutions for entertainment metadata pipelines.
- Set high technical standards and guide the team to achieve technical excellence.
- Mentor, coach, and grow team members through thoughtful career planning.
- Manage and improve SDLC and team processes.
- Build scalable, resilient, and cost-effective software and teams for complex data pipelines and products.
- Collaborate with Data Science to integrate methodologies into engineering build pipelines.
- Partner with product owners to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Stay informed about the latest technologies and methodologies.
- Foster a team environment focused on continuous learning and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in software development.
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience with Java/Kotlin, Scala, Python, and Unix shell.
- Strong understanding of big data tools like Kafka, Apache Spark, and Trino/Presto.
- Experience in leading teams that have designed and shipped high-impact, data-intensive SaaS or enterprise software.
- Expertise in code structure, testing, and engineering methodology.
- Experience in developing high-level architecture designs based on business requirements.
- Proficiency with orchestration tools like Airflow, API development, Docker, Kubernetes, and monitoring tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and Cloudwatch.
