Senior Big Data Engineer

Nielsen is seeking a Senior Big Data Engineer to join their Gracenote Tech team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Clean Code, scalable architectures, Test Driven Development, and DevOps. This role involves developing and enhancing flagship Video, Audio, Automotive, and Sports metadata software solutions with a Platform-first mentality.

Key responsibilities include:

• Evaluating and leveraging open-source technologies like Kubernetes, Trino, Spark, Airflow, Prometheus, ELK, and Jupyter
• Designing software with a Product-owner mentality
• Working in small, configurable teams to deliver software using an iterative approach
• Developing applications to catalog and power the world's largest entertainment metadata repository
• Interacting with Product, Editorial, and Client Experience teams

The ideal candidate will have:

• 5+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, Scala, Go, Pyspark, or Hadoop
• Competency in SQL and scripting (bash or other)
• Solid grasp of computer science fundamentals
• Experience with Unix/Linux based platforms
• A degree in computer science, engineering, math, or related fields
