Description For Senior Software Engineer Backend

Nielsen is seeking a Senior Software Engineer Backend to join their Gracenote Tech team. The ideal candidate has a passion for Clean Code, scalable architectures, Test Driven Development, and DevOps. You'll develop and enhance flagship Video, Audio, Automotive, and Sports metadata software solutions, designing applications with a Platform-first mentality. Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating and leveraging open-source technologies like Kubernetes, Trino, Spark, Airflow, Prometheus, ELK, and Jupyter
  • Designing software with a Product-owner mentality
  • Working in small, configurable teams to deliver software using an iterative approach
  • Developing applications to catalog and power the world's largest entertainment metadata repository
  • Interacting with Product, Editorial, and Client Experience teams

Requirements:

  • Passion for software development and DevOps
  • Competency in SQL and scripting (bash or similar)
  • 5+ years of work experience with C++, Java, Python, Scala, or Go
  • Solid grasp of computer science fundamentals
  • Experience with Unix/Linux based platforms
  • Degree in computer science, engineering, math, or related fields

  • Design software with a Product-owner mentality
  • Work within small, highly configurable teams to deliver software in rapid increments using an iterative approach
  • Develop applications to catalog and power the world's largest entertainment metadata repository
  • Interact with Product, Editorial and Client Experience teams to constantly refine the Gracenote offering
