Nielsen, a global measurement and data analytics company, is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team in Bengaluru, India. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic, international environment.

As a Software Engineer at Nielsen, you'll be part of a community of nearly 14,000 associates worldwide. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining software applications, building RESTful APIs, and working with big data technologies. You'll be deeply involved in product supplementation and automation, writing clean, reusable, and well-tested code. The role requires a strong background in Java/J2EE on Linux platforms, familiarity with Hadoop and messaging systems like Kafka, and proficiency in SQL (particularly PostgreSQL).

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, experience with Agile methodologies, and a solid understanding of continuous integration and deployment environments. Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively in English with team members from over 30 countries.

  • Familiarity with Hadoop Java software development
  • Familiarity with a messaging bus, such as AMQ and Kafka
  • SQL Programming (PostgreSQL)
  • Experience in building RESTful APIs
  • Experience with web technology including AWS, Docker, Java, Python, JavaScript, React/Redux
  • Experience in writing unit/integration tests including test automation
  • Strong testing and debugging abilities
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience working in an Agile environment (scrum, kanban)
  • Solid understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment environments
  • Strong analytical skills and sense of technical creativity
  • Excellent debugging and problem solving skills
  • Effective communication and writing skills
  • Ability to communicate in English
