Nielsen is seeking a Sr DevOps Engineer to join their team of nearly 14,000 associates. This role is part of a team that develops software interfaces with major TV streaming providers, downloading thousands of movies and TV shows from US and international platforms. The position is crucial to Nielsen's streaming measurement strategy.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will:
- Increase delivery speed, improve code quality/security, and optimize processes for the development team
- Focus on cost avoidance and security
- Identify potential failure modes & performance improvement opportunities
- Work with the development team to enhance a system processing large amounts of data 24/7
- Ensure stability of production environments and mentor team members
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with Tech Leads and developers to assess and solve problems
- Proactively detecting bottlenecks and production issues
- Participating in planning delivery time, code quality, and process efficiency improvements
- Performing daily tasks such as environmental health checks and monitoring
- Deploying applications using automated CI/CD pipelines with security assessments
- Automating repetitive DevOps tasks using tools like Terraform
- Managing on-premise and cloud-based Bot farms
- Collaborating with other DevOps teams and mentoring junior engineers
- Implementing security best practices for on-premise and AWS environments
Required skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of experience in UNIX-based environments (on-premise and AWS)
- Proficiency in Python, Shell scripting, SQL, Docker, EC2, Airflow, Terraform, AWS services
- Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and tools (GitLab a plus)
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills
