Description For Engineer & Applied Researcher (Rust, P2P, Distributed Systems)

Nomos is seeking an Engineer & Applied Researcher specializing in Rust, P2P, and Distributed Systems. This hybrid role combines engineering and applied research, focusing on implementing specifications and contributing to protocol design. Key responsibilities include designing, specifying, verifying, and building distributed systems using formal and experimental techniques. The ideal candidate will have strong coding experience in Rust, research experience in Distributed Systems (preferably in byzantine settings), and a solid background in Computer Science and Math. The role involves staying up-to-date with emerging technologies in blockchain, p2p networks, distributed systems, cryptography, Zero-Knowledge proofs, and MPC. Candidates should be keen communicators, eager to share their work, and have a strong interest in privacy and censorship-resistant technology. Additional desirable qualities include experience with open-source organizations, knowledge of cryptography, a PhD in a related field, and a track record of scientific publications. The position offers the flexibility of remote work worldwide and the option for compensation in any mix of fiat/crypto.
