Founding Engineer

Omi, an innovative AI company focused on wearable memory and voice-first interface solutions, is seeking a Founding Engineer to join their mission of making humans 1000x smarter with AI by 2026. The company has already achieved significant milestones, including 300K software users and 100M+ organic video views, along with developing three working hardware devices.

As the first engineer, you'll work directly with Nik Shevchenko, a successful entrepreneur and Thiel Fellow who has previously sold two startups and raised over $5M in funding. The role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of human-AI interaction through hardware and software development.

The position requires expertise in full-stack development, including Flutter/React Native, Python, firmware, and BLE. You'll be responsible for architecting the next version of Omi's SDK, platform, and hardware control systems. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of building impressive products, either through reaching significant user milestones (1M+ users or 10K+ devices) or generating substantial revenue ($1M+).

This is not a traditional role with predetermined tasks – you'll be actively involved in strategic decision-making and product direction. The company offers significant equity ownership and the chance to work on cutting-edge AI hardware that's already gaining traction with users. The current tech stack includes Flutter (with potential migration to React), Python/Flask, C firmware, and BLE, working with custom hardware through the Omi DevKit.
