Forward Deployed Engineer

OpenAI is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join their growing team in Paris. This role sits at the intersection of customer success and technical implementation, working with OpenAI's most strategic customers to transform abstract ideas into production applications. As a founding member of the Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team, you'll be responsible for deploying solutions on customer infrastructure for influential businesses, driving real impact through OpenAI's newest models.

The role requires a unique blend of technical expertise and customer-facing skills. You'll embed with customers to understand their domain deeply and co-develop solutions for often undefined problem spaces. Working in a hybrid model (3 days in office), you'll collaborate across multiple teams including Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Customer Success, while also providing valuable feedback to Research and Applied Product teams.

Key responsibilities include designing full-stack solutions, preparing detailed project plans, and working hands-on with customer technical teams. The ideal candidate brings 4+ years of experience in software engineering, strong full-stack development skills (React, Python, Node.js), and cloud platform expertise. You should be comfortable with up to 50% travel and possess excellent communication skills to translate complex technical concepts to various audiences.
