Forward Deployed Software Engineer

OpenAI is seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to join their growing team, working at the intersection of cutting-edge AI technology and enterprise solutions. This role combines technical expertise with customer-facing responsibilities, requiring both strong engineering skills and business acumen. As an FDSWE, you'll be responsible for building custom software leveraging OpenAI's APIs, working directly with customer infrastructure, and driving real business impact through technical delivery.

The position offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $200K to $310K, plus equity and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, mental health support, and generous parental leave. The role is based in San Francisco or New York City, following a hybrid work model with 3 days in office.

Ideal candidates will have 7+ years of professional engineering experience, strong full-stack development skills, and a willingness to travel up to 50% for customer engagement. Experience with React, Python, Node.js, and relational databases is required, while AI/ML interest is valued though direct experience isn't mandatory.
