Description For IT Network Engineer

OpenAI's IT organization supports the mission of deploying artificial general intelligence (AGI) for the benefit of all. As an IT Network Engineer at OpenAI, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the way we scale and grow our network footprint globally. You will be responsible for design, configuration, deployment, and monitoring of our networks globally to ensure they are scalable, secure, and meet the demands of our rapid growth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, deploying, and troubleshooting networks globally
  • Driving new network standards and initiatives to scale with rapid growth
  • Defining and managing monitoring systems and proactive alerting
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to build office networks from scratch
  • Working closely with support and escalations team to resolve user network requests
  • Procuring and implementing new WAN connections for offices
  • Utilizing configuration as code methodologies to automate and manage network infrastructure
  • Participating in an on-call rotation for critical network issues

Ideal candidates should have:

  • Experience with Cisco and Cisco Meraki network technologies
  • Experience with Infrastructure/Config as code using tools like Ansible, Terraform, Chef, and Puppet
  • Experience with Monitoring and Alerting tools like SNMP, Syslog, Grafana, Elasticsearch
  • Experience defining authentication policies using NAC solutions
  • Experience with IPAM systems like NetBox, Infoblox
  • Strong automation skills
  • Wireless troubleshooting experience
