Description For Product Quality Engineer

OpenAI is seeking a Product Quality Engineer to drive technical initiatives related to the quality and reliability of AI supercomputer hardware systems. This role is part of the Compute team, which works on designing AI supercomputers and collaborates with partners to optimize hardware for AI workloads.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead product quality strategy and process for next-gen AI hardware system development
  • Establish NPI product quality control process
  • Design and execute comprehensive quality assurance plans and testing protocols
  • Use advanced data analytics for key quality metrics
  • Lead failure analysis and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality standards
  • Conduct supplier and JDM/CM quality control audits
  • Manage overall product quality process development
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience leading complex projects from concept to production
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of industry trends in high-performance computing systems
  • Familiarity with Design For Quality (DFQ), Excellence (DFX), Manufacturability (DFM), Test (DFT), and Reliability (DFR)
  • Experience working with multinational JDM/CM vendors

Responsibilities For Product Quality Engineer

  • Lead and develop overall product quality strategy and process for next-gen AI hardware system development
  • Establish NPI product quality control process
  • Drive design and execution of comprehensive quality assurance plans, testing protocols, and validation processes
  • Use advanced data analytics and statistical methods for key quality metrics
  • Lead failure analysis, root cause identification, and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality standards
  • Conduct component supplier and JDM/CM quality control audits
  • Own overall product quality process development of hardware products
  • Develop and manage product quality requirements, scope, schedules, and deliverables
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously

Requirements For Product Quality Engineer

  • Track record of leading complex projects from concept to production launch
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and product quality engineering of high-performance computing systems
  • Experience driving development timelines for new platform introduction
  • Significant experience driving creativity, quality, and schedule at multinational JDM/CM vendors
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical Design For Quality (DFQ), Excellence (DFX), Manufacturability (DFM), Test (DFT), and Design for Reliability (DFR)
  • Experience in capturing, analyzing, and presenting key quality metrics data
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and rapidly changing conditions
