Description For Security Engineer, Detection & Response - Japan

OpenAI is seeking a Security Engineer specializing in Detection & Response to join their Security team in Tokyo, Japan. This role is fundamental to OpenAI's mission of ensuring artificial general intelligence benefits humanity. The Security team is responsible for protecting OpenAI's technology, people, and products through technical solutions and operational excellence.

As a Security Engineer, you'll work alongside OpenAI's engineers and researchers to build, operate, and secure transformational AI technologies. Your focus will be on Detection & Response, including infrastructure and operations, while contributing as a security generalist. You'll drive projects across major security verticals, innovate on Detection and Response infrastructure, and ensure robust endpoint fleet management.

The ideal candidate brings experience in Security or related fields, strong knowledge of cloud platforms (especially Microsoft Azure), and proficiency in scripting languages. You'll be working with cutting-edge AI technology while implementing security measures that protect OpenAI's innovative work. Responsibilities For Security Engineer, Detection & Response - Japan

  • Drive projects in security verticals including AppSec, InfraSec, OffSec and Detection and Response
  • Innovate on Detection and Response infrastructure
  • Build tools for managing lifecycle of detection rules
  • Develop, measure, and tune detection rules
  • Automate manual response processes
  • Ensure visibility and control of OpenAI's endpoint fleet
  • Drive improvements across IAM, device management, and cloud environments

Requirements For Security Engineer, Detection & Response - Japan

Python
  • Experience in Security or Security-adjacent field
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or cloud infrastructure platforms
  • Knowledge of modern adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures
  • Proficiency with a scripting language (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar)
