Software Engineer, Financial Engineering

The Applied team at OpenAI is seeking a Software Engineer for Financial Engineering to join their team in San Francisco. This role is part of the Applied Engineering team, specifically within the Financial Engineering team. The successful candidate will architect and build the next generation of billing and monetization systems at OpenAI, develop comprehensive billing integrations for ChatGPT and API users, design a versatile billing platform for subscription and usage-based offerings, construct tools for internal teams, and collaborate with various stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

• Architecting and building advanced billing and monetization systems
• Developing full-stack solutions for diverse billing integrations
• Designing scalable and flexible billing platforms
• Creating tools for internal teams to utilize billing data
• Collaborating with Product, Data, Finance, Go-To-Market teams, and fellow engineers

The ideal candidate should have:

• Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience in payments, billing, or monetization (bonus)
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with various partners
• Eagerness to learn and effectively communicate new knowledge
• Significant experience in developing and scaling production systems
• Focus on creating exceptional user experiences
• Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment with competing priorities
