Software Engineer, Front End (Desktop)

The ChatGPT team at OpenAI works across research, engineering, product, and design to bring OpenAI's technology to the world. They aim to learn from deployment, broadly distribute the benefits of AI, and ensure responsible and safe use of this powerful tool. The role involves building advanced features for the ChatGPT desktop application, leveraging industry best practices and modern frameworks to deliver amazing experiences to users. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing features end-to-end in a modern MacOS/iOS codebase.

Key responsibilities include:

• Partnering closely with design and product teams to conceive, design, and build features in ChatGPT for desktop.
• Working with a small, senior team of engineers and researchers to combine existing best practices with innovative approaches based on modern deep learning.

The ideal candidate should have:

• 6+ years of professional engineering experience (excluding internships)
• Significant experience building technically complex features that delight users, especially in Swift and/or C++
• A passion for building high-quality user experiences
• The ability to thrive in ambiguity, communicate clearly and concisely, and always seek to learn & share
