Software Engineer, Infrastructure

OpenAI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their Infrastructure team, focusing on core infrastructure that powers products like ChatGPT and their API. This role is integral to the cloud infrastructure team, responsible for building and maintaining infrastructure abstractions that enable OpenAI to deploy products quickly and scalably.

The position offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $160K to $385K, plus equity and comprehensive benefits. Based in San Francisco with a hybrid work model (3 days in office), the role requires 5+ years of experience in building core infrastructure and expertise with Kubernetes at scale.

As a Software Engineer in Infrastructure, you'll be responsible for designing and building development and production platforms, ensuring scalability and reliability of systems, and participating in on-call rotations. The ideal candidate should have strong experience with cloud platforms, be comfortable with ambiguity, and demonstrate ability to build secure, scalable systems.
