Description For Software Engineer, Supercomputing Scalability

OpenAI is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Supercomputing Scalability to join our team in San Francisco. This role is part of our Research department and offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI technologies.

As a Software Engineer in Supercomputing Scalability, you'll be at the forefront of developing and optimizing large-scale computing systems that power OpenAI's groundbreaking AI research. You'll work on improving the efficiency and performance of our supercomputing infrastructure, enabling us to train and run increasingly complex AI models.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing scalable software solutions for supercomputing environments
  • Optimizing code for high-performance computing systems
  • Collaborating with researchers to understand and meet their computational needs
  • Developing tools and frameworks to improve the efficiency of our AI training pipelines
  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in a distributed computing environment

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in software engineering, with a focus on high-performance computing or distributed systems
  • Strong programming skills in languages commonly used in scientific computing (e.g., C++, Python)
  • Experience with parallel computing frameworks and technologies
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and frameworks is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
