Description For Software Engineer III - Application Security

OpenGov is seeking a Security Software Engineer III to join their Global Security team. This role involves working closely with product and engineering teams to build secure systems for agile security. The ideal candidate is passionate about enabling engineering teams to address product and enterprise risk while maintaining business velocity and scaling for growth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing scalable, secure, and maintainable tools
  • Collaborating on threat-modeling and providing security guidance
  • Automating secure cloud operations and SecDevOps engineering pipelines
  • Troubleshooting complex technical issues
  • Driving continuous improvement of secure development processes
  • Managing vulnerability remediation
  • Mentoring junior security software engineers

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in computer science or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering or application security
  • Expertise in security architecture, secure code review, API security, and threat modeling
  • Experience with identity and access management best practices
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, C++, C#, or equivalent languages
  • Experience with GraphQL, AWS cloud security, container technology, and CI/CD systems
  • Familiarity with SAST, DAST, or SCA tooling

OpenGov offers a competitive salary range of $90,000 - $180,000 per year, with bonus eligibility.
