Description For Junior Member of Technical Staff

Oracle's Image team within the Linux organization is seeking a Junior Member of Technical Staff to join their Casablanca office. This role focuses on developing operating system images for major cloud platforms including OCI, Azure, AWS, and GCP. The position offers an opportunity to work with Linux systems at a deep technical level, focusing on image development, troubleshooting, and feature implementation.

The ideal candidate will join a team responsible for building and optimizing Linux images for various cloud platforms. This role combines systems engineering with software development, requiring strong Linux knowledge and programming skills in Python, shell scripting, and Go. You'll be working on critical infrastructure that powers cloud computing instances across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities For Junior Member of Technical Staff

  • Develop and maintain software optimizations for cloud platform usage of Linux images and userspace packages
  • Debug issues across the stack, drive root cause analysis and resolve bugs
  • Build systems sustainably through mechanisms such as easy to use tooling and automation
  • Develop test automation
  • Perform tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications
  • Build enhancements within existing software architecture

Requirements For Junior Member of Technical Staff

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong knowledge of Linux OS internals, kernel, virtualization, containers, networking and storage
  • Systematic problem-solving approach, troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Knowledge of Python, shell scripting, Go
  • Knowledge of software development practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control management
  • Experience in linux software package management and different linux distributions is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Results oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities
