Oracle's West Coast Hardware Development organization is seeking a Principal FPGA Electrical Engineer to join their team in Santa Clara, California. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology from industry leaders like Intel, AMD, and Nvidia to design advanced servers for Oracle's Cloud deployments, database appliance, middleware, and AI solutions.
As a Principal FPGA Electrical Engineer, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams including Signal Integrity, Power, Electrical, Validation, Mechanical, Diagnostics, BIOS, and OS experts. You'll have access to world-class FPGA tools and test equipment while working in a smaller, focused organization within Oracle.
The position involves in-house designs and offers flexibility to balance career and personal time while staying at the forefront of server technology. You'll be responsible for the architecture, analysis, detailed design, development, integration, test, and delivery of Oracle servers using the latest high-end server-grade merchant silicon.
This is a product team position with full ownership responsibilities, not an FPGA service role. The role demands expertise in system level and board level architecture, detailed design, and ownership of FPGA work across all product development phases through to volume production.

Responsibilities For Principal FPGA Electrical Engineer
- Architect and partition FPGA logic
- Design and Code logic for cloud compute servers, storage subsystems and GPU systems
- Integrate common code blocks into designs
- Simulate FPGA design solutions
- Achieve timing closure on FPGA designs
- Validate FPGA designs
- Debug board problems
- Work with internal teams on system requirements
- Collaborate with firmware/software teams
- Bring up and test prototypes
- Develop and implement test plans
- Mentor Junior Engineers
- Lead Lab debug of HW/FPGA problems
Requirements For Principal FPGA Electrical Engineer
- BSEE and 7 years or MSEE with 5 years FPGA engineering experience
- Proficiency in FPGA architecture, design, modeling, simulation, and verification
- Expertise in Verilog
- Proficiency with FPGA design tools such as Vivado
- Experience with Simulation/Verification tools
- Strong knowledge of high-speed design methodologies
- Solid understanding of digital design principles
- Proficient in CAD design tools
- Strong working knowledge of Linux environment and scripting
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
