Principal Hardware Development Engineer

Oracle is seeking a Principal Hardware Development Engineer to support the design, deployment, and operations of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This role focuses on developing and deploying physical rack layouts, cabling design, and test/qualification of physical components for Network Engineering. The ideal candidate will have a diverse background in network hardware engineering, including cabling, low-level device performance, and thermals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the standardization of rack SKUs and buildout of standardized cabling solutions
• Organize project technical milestones and supporting tasks
• Serve as a technical SME in cross-functional activities
• Decompose high-level architectures into detailed designs
• Lead multiple engineers in developing complex network solutions
• Work with supporting service teams to ensure proper monitoring and automation
• Serve as the principal point of contact for resolving complex network design issues
• Understand current and future cabling and optical standards, cable plant design, and rack integration best practices
• Provide technical guidance to junior and senior staff members
• Collaborate with vendor engineering and account managers
• Participate in RFQ/RFP development and lead adoption of new vendor hardware
• Drive technology to meet product and service requirements

The role requires 6 to 10+ years of experience and is classified as an IC4 career level. The successful candidate will work in a global cloud computing environment, supporting hundreds of thousands of network devices and millions of servers.
