Description For Space Operations Engineer (Embedded Software)

Orbital Sidekick (OSK) is on a mission to harness the power of hyperspectral imagery (HSI) for global environmental, health, and safety needs while supporting companies' sustainability goals. As a Space Operations Engineer (Embedded) in the Payload Engineering Team, you'll create services to control satellites, working directly under the VP of Payload Engineering. Your role involves modeling tasking scenarios for hyperspectral satellite constellations, performing orbit positioning studies, interfacing with operations and software teams, testing on ground hardware, and optimizing camera and optical systems. You'll also work on implementing onboard algorithms, developing data processing capabilities, and incorporating payload and spacecraft bus command and control schemes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerospace engineering or computer science, with experience in embedded systems, spacecraft operations, and data processing. This role offers an opportunity to work at the cutting edge of space technology, contributing to real-time monitoring, detection, and risk management solutions.
