Description For Quantum Processor Design Engineer

Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) is seeking a Quantum Processor Design Engineer to join their team. This role involves designing and developing quantum processors and their surrounding infrastructure. The successful candidate will work with Quantum Engineers to optimize parameters and understand the link between simulation and experimental measurements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and improving existing Quantum Processor Unit design
  • Implementing design requests from the Quantum Systems team
  • Circuit design, detailed analysis, and simulation of the Quantum Processor Unit
  • Acting as an advisor to the wider team for development solutions
  • Maintaining high-quality documentation to capture ideas and results

Required skills:

  • Master's degree in physics/electrical engineering/RF engineering or similar plus Commercial experience OR a PhD in a relevant field
  • Good knowledge of Python programming language
  • Familiarity with finite element method solvers (e.g., HFSS/Sonnet/Comsol)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across multiple teams and disciplines
  • Self-driven and able to take initiative

Desired skills:

  • Experience with different software lifecycle methodologies
  • Excellent understanding of RF/microwave principles, theory, and design techniques
  • Experience in simulations of quantum or RF properties of superconducting circuits
