Description For Backend Engineer

Packfleet, a innovative logistics company, is revolutionizing UK deliveries with cutting-edge technology and customer-centric solutions. They're seeking a Backend Engineer to join their dynamic team in a hybrid work environment based in London.

The role offers an exciting opportunity to work on systems that power the entire delivery journey, from e-commerce integrations to vehicle routing. As part of a small team, you'll have significant influence in shaping both products and processes. The position requires 3+ years of backend development experience, with a tech stack including TypeScript, Node.js, Rust, and PostgreSQL.

The company operates with a strong, ownership-driven culture where engineers and designers collaborate directly without traditional product management layers. They embrace modern technology, including AI/LLM tools, and deploy multiple times daily. Their infrastructure includes service-oriented backend architecture, running on Google Cloud Platform with Kubernetes.

What makes this role particularly appealing is the blend of technical challenges and real-world impact. Engineers occasionally join delivery runs to understand the operational aspects firsthand. The compensation is competitive (£80,000-£100,000) with meaningful equity, and benefits include health insurance, learning budgets, and generous holiday allowance.

Packfleet values diversity and actively encourages applications from underrepresented groups. They offer visa sponsorship and maintain a flexible hybrid working model with 2 days per week in their Bermondsey office. The role presents an opportunity to join a growing company that's modernizing delivery services while maintaining a strong focus on both technical excellence and practical understanding of their operations.
