This mid-level (L4) position offers a unique opportunity to work with sensitive data including payment methods and financial information. The role combines technical security engineering with governance and compliance responsibilities.

The position offers flexibility with both remote and hybrid options, based in either San Francisco or New York offices. As a Security Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing security automation, detection, and response capabilities while managing GRC functions. You'll work with modern technologies including AWS, Kubernetes, and various security tools.

The ideal candidate brings 4+ years of security engineering experience and strong programming skills, particularly in Python. You'll be protecting both cloud-native and on-premises environments, implementing security controls, and managing incident response. The role requires both technical expertise in security tools and understanding of compliance frameworks like NIST, ISO, and PCI.

Responsibilities For Security Engineer

  • Design and implement security solutions for cloud-native and containerized environments
  • Develop and refine security detection rules, playbooks, and workflows
  • Build integrations and automated pipelines for investigation and remediation
  • Handle security incidents and lead cross-functional coordination
  • Lead risk management efforts and compliance checks
  • Develop and maintain security metrics
  • Contribute to audits and certification processes
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Legal teams for security requirements
  • Provide threat modeling and security architecture guidance
  • Participate in proactive threat hunting and vulnerability management

Requirements For Security Engineer

  • Minimum of 4 years of combined experience in Security Engineering, GRC, or related roles
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or 6+ years of relevant experience)
  • Strong foundation in programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation and tooling
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing security controls
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure using IaC tools
  • Proficiency in threat detection, incident response, and investigation methodologies
  • Working knowledge of security standards and regulations
  • Experience executing audits, risk assessments, and managing compliance programs
