PayPal is seeking a Senior Manager of Outside Counsel Management to lead their global legal operations initiatives. This key role will spearhead the company's outside counsel management program, providing strategic oversight of legal billing, project management, and budgeting across PayPal's worldwide legal department.

As Sr. Manager, you will be responsible for creating and executing strategies to maximize cost savings while ensuring high-quality legal support. Key responsibilities include negotiating global law firm agreements, implementing cost-saving initiatives, managing the legal billing team, and overseeing the project management of PayPal's largest legal matters. You'll work closely with the Legal Leadership Team to build and maintain a best-in-class outside counsel management program.
The ideal candidate brings 7-10 years of experience in legal pricing environments, strong technical and analytical skills, and a proven track record of managing complex stakeholder relationships. You should have deep knowledge of law firm pricing and billing practices, experience with legal technology platforms, and excellent project management capabilities.
This role offers a competitive salary range of $99,300 to $216,040, along with comprehensive benefits including health coverage, retirement plans, equity options, and a flexible hybrid work arrangement. Responsibilities For Sr. Manager, Outside Counsel Management
- Lead PayPal's global outside counsel management program
- Oversee legal billing team and project management team
- Manage outside counsel budgeting and forecasting
- Create and implement PayPal's outside counsel engagement strategy
- Negotiate global law firm agreements and rates
- Implement cost saving initiatives
- Manage rapid response portfolio of high impact priorities
- Lead the Legal Project Management Team
- Oversee monthly outside counsel forecasting process
- Run the annual outside counsel legal budget exercise
Requirements For Sr. Manager, Outside Counsel Management
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) with focus in finance or economics preferred
- 7-10 years of work experience in legal pricing environment
- Experience with people management and strong interpersonal skills
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office applications, Excel, Tableau, PowerBI
- Working knowledge of corporate finance/budgeting practices and legal billing systems
- Experience with legal technology (Serengeti, TyMetrix T360, Onit or other eBilling tools)
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent written, communication, research, and presentation skills
