Description For Backend Engineer

PayPay Card, established in 2021, is a FinTech company that's part of the rapidly expanding PayPay ecosystem in Japan. With over 65 million users, PayPay is used by approximately one in two smartphone users in Japan. We're seeking backend engineers to build and rebuild robust, scalable, and maintainable services.

As a backend engineer, you'll:

  • Design, implement, and deliver large-scale, complex systems
  • Leverage infrastructure to solve large-scale problems
  • Share knowledge, participate in code reviews, and uphold best practices
  • Debug and resolve product issues
  • Adopt problem-solving as a way of life

Our tech stack includes:

  • Spring Boot (Java 11/17)
  • AWS services (ECS, CloudFormation, CloudWatch)
  • GitHub, IntelliJ, Gradle
  • JIRA, Confluence, Miro

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Professional experience with Spring Boot
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and OOP
  • Understanding of concurrency and distributed computing
  • Degree in Computer Engineering/Science or 5+ years of equivalent experience
  • English business proficiency

Responsibilities For Backend Engineer

  • Support the design, implementation and delivery of large scale, and complex, systems
  • Understand how to leverage infrastructure to solve large scale problems
  • Contribute to the team by sharing knowledge, participating in code reviews and providing feedback
  • Triage, debug and resolve product issues or other incoming troubles inquiries
  • Adopt problem solving as a way of life – always go to the root cause! Support the code you write in production

Requirements For Backend Engineer

Java
MySQL
  • Experience in using Spring Boot in a professional environment
  • Experience with RDBMS, NoSQL databases along with distributed cache
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms and object oriented programming
  • In-depth understanding of concurrency and distributed computing
  • Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or 5+ years equivalent experience in SaaS platform development
  • English business proficiency
