Platform Engineer (Database)

PayPay Card, established in 2021, is a FinTech company that integrates with the PayPay payment platform to provide accessible and convenient financial services in Japan. As part of a rapidly expanding business that has surpassed 65 million users, PayPay Card is seeking passionate professionals to refine their products and promote cashless payments.

We are currently looking for Platform Engineers specializing in databases at scale for mission-critical systems. The role involves database operations, including monitoring, configuration management, upgrades, scaling, backup, and data migration. You'll be responsible for improving operational quality and efficiency, troubleshooting stability and performance issues, contributing to documentation, and researching new tools in database ecosystems.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and optimizing database operations
• Iterating on processes to improve quality and efficiency
• Troubleshooting stability and performance problems
• Contributing to documentation for knowledge sharing and decision-making
• Researching and implementing new database tools

The tech stack includes Python, Shell, SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL, AWS, GitHub, and Terraform.

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of DBA experience (3+ years with Oracle or MySQL)
• 3+ years of AWS experience
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Interest in new technologies and improving operational efficiency
• Familiarity with shell scripting and Python
• English business proficiency

Preferred qualifications include experience in automating database operations, familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes, hands-on experience with AWS Aurora and RDS for Oracle, and Japanese conversational proficiency.
