Description For Software Engineer (Data Engineer)

PayPay, a fintech company that has grown to over 65 million users in about 6 years since its launch in 2018, is seeking a Software Engineer (Data Engineer) to join their team. The company is composed of diverse members from about 50 countries and regions.

As a Data Engineer at PayPay, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining a data analysis infrastructure that allows PayPay employees to effectively utilize various internal data. Your mission will be to support business decision-making and improve operational efficiency through the development and operation of this data platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design data architecture and develop/operate various components of the data analysis infrastructure
  • Define KPIs and other metrics, and coordinate with internal departments
  • Develop and improve guidelines for company-wide data governance promotion
  • Implement security measures and improve operational tasks

Recent Projects:

  • Creation of data warehouses (company-wide marts, department-specific marts, master data management)
  • Improvement of GCP operations (BigQuery monitoring, IAM design, project segmentation)
  • BI construction (supporting a wide range of tasks from data acquisition to BI implementation)
  • Stable delivery of KPI reports necessary for management
  • Comparative re-examination of Redshift and BigQuery

Tech Stack:

  • Python

  • Docker, Terraform
  • Fivetran
  • Looker (Data Portal)

The ideal candidate will have strong logical thinking skills, the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, and a proactive attitude towards identifying and solving challenges. Experience with job schedulers like AirFlow, Luigi, or JP1, and familiarity with large-scale data analysis platforms using Redshift or BigQuery would be advantageous.
