Description For Data Engineer

PENN Entertainment, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join theScore Data Engineering team. As a key member, you'll work with a collaborative team of Data Engineers, Software Engineers, MLEs, and Data Scientists to develop high-quality, sustainable data-driven solutions. The role focuses on improving profitability, growth, and user experience through sophisticated data pipeline development and maintenance.

You'll be instrumental in building and maintaining data infrastructure, collaborating closely with Data Science teams, and implementing automated workflows. The position requires expertise in Python, SQL, streaming technologies, and cloud platforms. You'll work on cutting-edge platforms including ESPN BET, Hollywood Casino, theScore Bet Sportsbook & Casino, and theScore media app.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of experience in data or software engineering, with strong foundations in computer science and distributed systems. Responsibilities For Data Engineer

  • Collaborate with Data Science and engineering teams to build data pipelines, infrastructure and tooling
  • Oversee design and maintenance of data pipelines
  • Meet performance, scalability, and reliability goals
  • Write tests and documentation for processes and tooling
  • Maintain and expand existing systems and infrastructure
  • Maintain streaming pipelines that ingest near-real time data

Requirements For Data Engineer

Python
Kubernetes
Kafka
  • 7+ years of experience in data or software engineering
  • Strong knowledge of Python
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL
  • Strong knowledge of streaming technologies (Kafka, Argo workflows)
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with BigQuery, GCP or other SQL-based data warehouses
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with testing frameworks (Pytest, PyUnit, Junit, Mockito)
  • Experience with RESTful API development
  • Strong organization and collaboration skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
