Description For Director, Software Engineering

PepsiCo is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead software development initiatives within their Strategy & Transformation organization. This role will be instrumental in driving digital transformation across PepsiCo's value chain, overseeing end-to-end software development and DevOps processes. The position requires a seasoned leader with extensive experience in distributed systems and team management.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams including UX, Product Management, and IT to deliver innovative digital solutions. They will be responsible for developing software strategy, managing high-performance teams, and ensuring delivery of high-quality software solutions that generate business value through cost savings or revenue growth.

Responsibilities For Director, Software Engineering

  • Create vision and guide engineering team to build digital products across S&T priorities
  • Drive partnerships with UX, Product Management, IT, Data & Analytics teams
  • Develop software development strategy using industry standards
  • Lead multi-discipline, high-performance remote teams
  • Interact with executives to lead software engineering narrative
  • Develop DPS capabilities through customer-focused digital solutions platform
  • Manage delivery impediments, risks, and issues
  • Interact with business partners to recommend strategic solutions

Requirements For Director, Software Engineering

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Master's or PhD preferred
  • 15+ years of software development and engineering management experience
  • 10+ years experience architecting fault tolerant, high scale distributed systems
  • 4+ years managing people with 2+ years managing multiple teams
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud, AWS)
  • Experience with mission critical 24x7 systems
  • Full stack engineering experience
  • Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React-Redux
