Pinterest's Advanced Technologies Group (ATG) is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead their Responsible AI initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of cutting-edge machine learning and ethical AI development, working with Pinterest's platform that serves 500M+ monthly active users. The position focuses on ensuring AI systems are fair, unbiased, and aligned with Pinterest's vision of being a positive force on the internet.
The role involves leading pivotal engineering initiatives in the Responsible AI space, working with state-of-the-art ML technologies including transformer-based models, LLMs, and recommendation systems. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing fairness interventions at scale, collaborating across teams to enhance user experiences through ethical AI practices.
As part of Pinterest's Advanced Technologies Group, you'll work on multi-modal ML systems utilizing image, text, and graph signals, operating at massive scale in real-time interactive environments. The role offers the opportunity to impact groundbreaking features like skin tone search, hair pattern recognition, and body type inclusivity features.
The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in ML systems with a strong understanding of responsible technology practices. - Mentor junior engineers on the Responsible AI team
- Work with senior leaders to define and drive technical strategy
- Design and scale backend and ML systems for high-traffic products
Requirements For Staff Machine Learning Engineer - Responsible AI
- Masters or PhD in Comp Sci or related fields
- 5+ years working experience in engineering teams building large-scale ML-driven user-facing products
- 2+ years experience leading cross-team engineering efforts
- Deep familiarity with cutting-edge ML architectures
- Extensive experience applying advanced ML methods to production systems
- Proven ability to measure, deploy, and refine fairness interventions
