Description For Test Engineer (Team Lead)

Platinum Technologies, a Northern Virginia-based firm specializing in Cybersecurity, Cloud, and Digital Services for the Public Sector, is seeking a Test Engineer Team Lead to join their DES program. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and mentor a team of Test Engineers supporting a critical digital modernization program for DISA and Fourth Estate Agencies.

As a Team Lead, you'll be responsible for overseeing test execution, automation initiatives, and quality assurance processes. The position requires a strong background in software testing, leadership experience, and deep understanding of security protocols, as evidenced by the requirement for IAT Level II or higher certification.

The role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on technical work and team management. You'll be working in a hybrid environment at Ft Meade, MD, collaborating with various stakeholders including customers, developers, and other team members.

Responsibilities For Test Engineer (Team Lead)

  • Oversee a team of Test Engineers, ensuring tasks are aligned with project goals and deadlines
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to team members
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment
  • Ensure efficient test execution, documentation of results, and timely resolution of defects
  • Collaborate with engineers to identify and address issues prior to delivery of test plans
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks
  • Interact with stakeholders to gather requirements and communicate progress
  • Represent the test team in project meetings
  • Ensure team adherence to quality standards and best practices
  • Conduct code reviews and audits to identify potential defects

Requirements For Test Engineer (Team Lead)

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience
  • Experience with effectively detecting, tracking, reporting, and communicating test defects
  • Experience with the life cycle of software in military simulation systems
  • Familiar with agile development methodologies and test-driven development
  • Expertise in the Atlassian tool suite (JIRA and Confluence)
  • Current IAT Level II or higher Certification (Security+ or CISSP)
  • 3-5 years of experience in software testing, with 2 years in leadership role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
