As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Flow Builder team, you'll play a crucial role in enhancing our message orchestration platform. You'll architect and build scalable, extensible systems using Go, Python, and AWS, contributing to a high-growth startup backed by top investors like Greylock and Y Combinator.
Your responsibilities include developing REST APIs, guiding the team in technical decisions, and mentoring other engineers. You'll work on migrating from a monolithic architecture and optimizing our systems for maximum throughput and efficiency. This fully remote position offers the opportunity to have a significant impact on both our customers and business.
The ideal candidate has 6-8 years of professional software development experience, expertise in Go and Python, and familiarity with AWS and database modeling (Postgres). Responsibilities For Senior Backend Engineer
- Architect and build highly available, extensible, and scalable platform primitives and REST APIs
- Take ownership and be creative with solutions to deliver excellent products
- Contribute to team health through honest and direct feedback
- Guide the team in making optimal technical and product design decisions
- Identify and execute on points of scale to maximize throughput and efficiency
- Mentor other engineers on best practices and growth opportunities
- Communicate transparently and proactively, define scope, break down and estimate tasks, manage risks and changes
Requirements For Senior Backend Engineer
- 6-8 years professional software development experience
- Proven career as a software engineer developing backend applications and APIs
- Hands-on experience using Golang and Python
- Familiarity with building, deploying, and maintaining applications on AWS services using Terraform
- Expertise in NoSQL and SQL, and experience with database modeling (Postgres)
- Experience building modular, flexible architectures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience coaching and mentoring engineers
- Experience establishing best practices in development processes
- Strong attention to detail
