Senior Systems Software Engineer (SRE)

Providence Digital Innovation Group (DIG) is seeking a Senior Systems Software Engineer (SRE) to join their team. As part of one of the largest not-for-profit health systems in the United States, DIG focuses on building next-gen tools for patient healthcare access and incubating healthcare technology startups.

The ideal candidate will be a polyglot programmer familiar with both interpreted and compiled languages, with a strong background in cloud native infrastructure, systems, application security, and operational excellence. You'll be responsible for writing code to automate infrastructure, security, and monitoring of systems and services, preferably in Python.

Key responsibilities include:

• Automating infrastructure, security, and monitoring
• Working with cloud networking infrastructure and related concepts
• Understanding modern web application stacks
• Implementing best practices for observability, availability, latency, scalability, and efficiency of distributed systems
• Systems administration at the virtualization layer and with distributed operating systems like Kubernetes
• Being part of a 24/7/365 on-call team for infrastructure maintenance and stability

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
• 6+ years of experience in systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, and related technologies
• Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code frameworks, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and programming languages like Python or Golang
• Strong understanding of modern application deployment, Enterprise Integration Patterns, and Operational Excellence
