Description For Principal Mechanical Engineer

Proxima Fusion is at the forefront of sustainable energy innovation, focusing on developing commercially viable fusion power plants. Using groundbreaking W7-X stellarator technology combined with cutting-edge computation and machine learning, we're pushing the boundaries of fusion technology.

We're seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead our mechanical design and manufacturing efforts for stellarator components. This role is perfect for an experienced professional with 10+ years of experience who can bring their expertise in complex mechanical systems design and manufacturing to our mission-critical projects.

The ideal candidate will combine technical excellence with leadership capabilities, having a proven track record of growing teams and managing major technical projects. Experience with cryogenics/vacuum, high heat flux components, or advanced structural design would be particularly valuable.

You'll be joining a mission-driven, globally diverse team supported by internationally renowned groups and industrial partners. We offer a collaborative environment where innovation thrives, backed by a generous stock options program and support for personal growth, including language courses for team members and their families.

At Proxima Fusion, we're not just building technology – we're shaping the future of energy. This is an opportunity to work on harnessing the universe's fundamental energy source while contributing to a sustainable future for generations to come. We maintain a healthy work-life balance, recognizing that our ambitious goals require sustained, long-term effort rather than short-term sprints.

We're committed to fostering an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued and everyone has the opportunity to contribute to our mission of transforming global energy production.
