Description For CPU Micro-Architect RTL Engineer

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a talented CPU Micro-Architect RTL Engineer to join their team in Austin. This role represents an exciting opportunity to work with the world's largest fabless design company, focusing on cutting-edge processor development.

The position involves working on Qualcomm's Hexagon architecture, which is designed to deliver high performance with low power consumption across various applications including Audio, Modem, Machine learning, IoT, and Automotive cores. You'll be at the forefront of innovation, working specifically on modem cores and AI cores that are industry-leading in the mobile sector.

Key responsibilities include owning microarchitecture and RTL development, performing low power refinements, conducting performance exploration, and meeting critical area and timing goals. You'll drive innovation in instruction set, RTOS, software architecture, and solve complex challenges related to power and thermal management.

The ideal candidate should possess strong experience in CPU micro-architecture, including detailed knowledge of processor pipelines, out-of-order design, load store units, caches, cache coherence, ordering, and memory hierarchy. A background in multi-processor and multi-thread processor systems is preferred.

  • Master's degree in computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 1-3 years CPU architecture experience
  • Experience with CPU micro-architecture
  • Knowledge of processor pipelines, out of order design, load store unit, caches
  • Understanding of cache coherence, ordering, memory hierarchy
  • Proficiency in communication, collaboration and teamwork skills
