Description For CPU Physical Design Engineer

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a talented CPU Physical Design Engineer to join their innovative team. In this role, you will work with the CPU microarchitecture and RTL design team to implement designs that meet aggressive power, area, and performance goals using industry-standard tools and flows. You'll be responsible for understanding specifications and design trade-offs in pipeline and structure sizing, performing feasibility studies, and synthesizing Verilog RTL into gate-level designs.

Key responsibilities include optimizing designs at various stages from RTL to GDS, performing SynthPlace & Route operations, and validating designs for functional and electrical robustness. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of multi-core CPU operations.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in CPU microarchitecture, experience with deep submicron process technology nodes, and solid understanding of industry-standard tools for synthesis, place & route, and tapeout flows. Knowledge of high-performance and low-power implementation methods is essential.

Responsibilities For CPU Physical Design Engineer

  • Work with CPU microarchitecture team to understand specifications and design trade offs
  • Perform feasibilities to validate implementability, area, timing and power
  • Synthesize the Verilog RTL into gate level designs and perform optimizations
  • Perform SynthPlace & Route on the designs using industry standard tools and deliver GDS
  • Optimize the design at various stages from RTL to GDS to meet timing, power and area goals
  • Validate the designs for functional and electrical robustness

Requirements For CPU Physical Design Engineer

Java
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Knowledge of CPU microarchitecture
  • Experience in deep submicron process technology nodes
  • Knowledge of library cells and optimizations
  • Solid understanding industry standard tools for synthesis, place & route and tapeout flows
  • Experience with Synthesis, place and route and signoff timing/power analysis
  • Knowledge of high performance and low power implementation methods
