Description For HW Application Engineer - SI/PI

Qualcomm is seeking a Hardware Application Engineer specializing in Signal Integrity and Power Integrity (SI/PI) to join their customer engineering team. This role focuses on providing electrical design expertise and simulation directly to customers for compute/wireless products and development systems. The position involves working with cutting-edge technologies including DDR memory, USB4, PCIe, and MIPI CSI interfaces.

The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in electromagnetic theory, transmission lines, and signal/power integrity concepts. They will be responsible for performing complex board-level simulations, analyzing PCB power distribution networks, and providing technical guidance to customers. The role requires expertise in commercial 3D electromagnetic field solvers and SI/RF analysis tools.

Responsibilities For HW Application Engineer - SI/PI

  • Perform PCBA board level PDN and SI simulation analyses
  • Perform laptop motherboard compliance end to end simulation
  • Analyze and provide design guidance on PCB power distribution networks
  • Document, distribute, and present results at appropriate meetings

Requirements For HW Application Engineer - SI/PI

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Master's preferred)
  • 2-4 years experience in electromagnetic theory and transmission lines
  • Experience with commercial 3D electromagnetic field solver
  • Experience with commercial SI or RF analysis tools
  • Knowledge of SPICE transient simulation including IBIS models
  • Understanding of basic signal and power integrity concepts
