Description For Product Development and Test Engineer, Staff

Qualcomm, a global leader in semiconductor technology, is seeking a Staff Product Development and Test Engineer to join their Product Development and Test Engineering (PDTE) group in San Diego. This role is crucial for the design validation, characterization, and production deployment of cutting-edge 5G products using advanced FinFET semiconductor technologies.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technology in 5G and semiconductor development. As a staff engineer, you'll be part of a technical team collaborating closely with IC Design, Software, Systems, and Operations engineering to ensure high-volume manufacturability of products. The role combines hardware expertise with software development, requiring both technical depth and cross-functional collaboration skills.

What makes this role particularly attractive is the diverse growth opportunities it presents. You can specialize in Digital Test Engineering, including areas like Mixed Signal, Microprocessors, HSIO, Logic, Memory, DFT, DFM, and Machine Learning. Alternatively, you could explore adjacent disciplines such as Yield Management, Diagnostics, or Product Engineering, or work with different product families like PMIC, RF, and RFEE.

The ideal candidate will bring a Master's degree in a relevant field and at least 2 years of experience in product development and test validation. Your expertise should span both hardware and software domains, with proficiency in Python and Java/C++ for test code development. Knowledge of VLSI technologies, circuit design, and experience with automated test equipment will be valuable assets.

Working at Qualcomm means being at the forefront of semiconductor innovation, with the opportunity to work on products that power millions of devices worldwide. The company's position as a leader in 5G technology and mobile processors ensures exposure to cutting-edge technology and challenging technical problems. The role offers the perfect blend of independent work and collaborative problem-solving, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both technical depth and cross-functional interaction.
