Description For Staff Engineer - Game Artist - Level Designer

Qualcomm's in-house Snapdragon Game Studio is seeking an experienced Level Designer to join their team. This role combines creative game design with technical expertise, requiring 8+ years of game development experience with a focus on level design. The position involves working with cutting-edge gaming technologies, including Unreal Engine 5 and Unity, to create engaging and innovative gaming experiences.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing levels from concept to playable prototypes, collaborating across multiple teams to deliver polished, narrative-driven experiences that meet AAA standards. They will need to demonstrate excellent environmental storytelling abilities and a strong understanding of 3D game space design.

Responsibilities For Staff Engineer - Game Artist - Level Designer

  • Build blockouts for levels that are engaging, readable, and align with level vision
  • Collaborate with other designers to ensure consistency, scope, and quality of content
  • Set guidelines and metrics for level designers to build quick prototypes
  • Conceptualize and prototype layout of 3D game environments
  • Work closely with environment art, quest design, and systems design teams
  • Regularly play game content and provide constructive feedback
  • Own quality, functionality, and stability of levels throughout lifecycle
  • Collaborate with art, engineering, animation, VFX, and audio teams

Requirements For Staff Engineer - Game Artist - Level Designer

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in Game Development with significant being as Level Designer
  • Shipped a project from start to finish as a Level Designer
  • Experience working in Unreal Engine 5 and using Blueprints
  • Excellent sense of 3D game space and environmental storytelling
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Self-motivated, able to envision and implement level improvements
  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Design Graphics, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience with gaming art software (e.g., Zbrush, Maya, Blender)
