Description For Systems Engineer – Sensors

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer specializing in sensors to join their innovative team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI & signal processing-based sensor solutions embedded in smartphones, automotive, IoT, smartwatches, and other consumer electronics devices.

The position involves working across the entire product lifecycle, from early R&D to commercial deployment, within the QCT sensors group. You'll be developing sophisticated sensor algorithms using high-level languages like MATLAB and Python, while also handling embedded software development in C/C++. The role requires making critical engineering decisions balancing performance, memory usage, power consumption, and computational complexity.

As a Systems Engineer, you'll collaborate with global teams, contribute to algorithm performance validation, and create comprehensive documentation. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in digital signal processing, machine learning concepts, and MEMs & inertial sensors. This role offers exposure to various applications including navigation, gaming, smart user interfaces, multimedia, and AR/VR technologies.

Responsibilities For Systems Engineer – Sensors

  • Developing sensor algorithms in high level languages (MATLAB, Python) including algorithm performance validation
  • Making engineering tradeoffs between performance, memory, power consumption, and computational complexity
  • Working with global systems and software teams
  • Embedded software development in C/C++ for fixed & floating-point based designs
  • Creating reports on algorithm evaluation results and delivering complete design documentation

Requirements For Systems Engineer – Sensors

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • 2+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience
  • Understanding of digital signal processing, linear algebra, probability and statistics
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning concepts
  • Familiarity with ML libraries and packages
  • Embedded programming skills with C/C++
  • Knowledge of MEMs & inertial sensors
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
