Description For Windows Power and Performance Engineer, Senior Staff

Qualcomm is seeking an experienced Windows Power/Performance Developer passionate about analyzing and optimizing software for Windows on Snapdragon. The ideal candidate should have a background in understanding and implementing software optimizations across multiple layers, including Windows Operating System, Kernel, Compiler, Drivers, Assembly Language, CPU microarchitecture, and SoC/Memory/Bus architecture.

As a Windows Performance Developer, you'll own and drive analysis of complex system-level performance aspects and develop solutions to optimize performance without impacting power consumption. This role aims to deliver best-in-class software performance for next-generation Windows on Snapdragon desktop devices using Qualcomm SoCs. You'll work closely with software architects, OS and kernel developers, CPU architects, and SOC architects to define performance optimization strategies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • In-depth analysis of key software benchmarks and applications to identify optimization opportunities
  • Implementing software optimizations to meet performance criteria
  • Developing and enhancing analysis tools and instrumentation
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners
  • Identifying risks associated with designs and approaches
  • Solving complex technical problems affecting significant product areas
  • Making decisions based on incomplete, contradictory, and ambiguous information
  • Acting as a tech lead on projects and owning project outcomes
  • Leading others with technical credibility

The role requires a self-starter with excellent people and leadership skills, capable of driving analysis and optimizations with senior technical members across Qualcomm and external partners. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to self-manage and work through ambiguous issues and requirements.

Requirements For Windows Power and Performance Engineer, Senior Staff

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 3+ years of work experience with Programming Languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
  • Experience in C/C++, ARM assembly
  • Strong familiarity with ARM architecture
  • Good understanding of CPU Architecture, Memory and Bus architecture and how that impacts software performance
  • Experience in performance characterization and software optimization techniques
  • Ability to debug complex problems across multiple layers of Hardware, OS, compiler, and drivers
