Quast Ltd is seeking a Maritime Platforms Engineer for a government client in Bristol. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week on-site, running until September 2025. The position is within the Design Authority Structures section of the SDA In-Service Submarines Platform Engineering Team. The role focuses on engineering and safety decision-making for submarine structures, particularly fasteners, hatches, LETs, and doors. The successful candidate will work closely with Struct2 on structural and mechanical issues, ensuring submarine safety and operational integrity. This is an Inside IR35 contract position offering £550/day through an umbrella company. The role requires SC Clearance and is open to sole UK nationals only. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced maritime engineers to contribute to critical naval infrastructure and safety systems.
Responsibilities For Maritime Platforms Engineer
- Ensuring in-service submarines remain safe to operate with respect to Structural Strength
- Setting Design Authority Requirements (DAR) for surveys, repairs, and concessions
- Assessing OPDEFs for their impact on the Struct2 areas of responsibility
- Developing design changes for secondary structure
- Reviewing Design Changes for impact on structural strength
Requirements For Maritime Platforms Engineer
- Professional registration in line with current SDA Policy
- Level 6 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
- Nuclear Introductory Course
- System Safety Awareness
- System Safety in Action (SSIA)
- Safety & Environmental Management (SEMT)
- 4 years' experience in a maritime post
- Minimum 2 years' experience of submarine specific structures
- Must be sole UK nationals
- SC Clearance required
