Description For Materials/Manufacturing Engineer

Quast Ltd is seeking a Materials/Manufacturing Engineer for a government client in Bristol. This role is part of the AUKUS programme, a trilateral partnership between Australia, UK, and US, focusing on nuclear-powered submarine capabilities. The position supports the SDA AUKUS PDO with materials manufacturing standards and concast-specific work. The role is critical for AUKUS delivery and involves working with the Naval Authority Technology Group (NATG). The position requires expertise in ferrous metals, understanding of heavy plate production methods, and experience with materials specifications and standards. This is an Inside IR35 contract position offering up to £750/day, running until December 2025. The role requires SC clearance and UK nationality, with a hybrid working arrangement of minimum 3 days per week in Bristol. The position plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) and contributing to the next-generation SSN design.

Responsibilities For Materials/Manufacturing Engineer

Requirements For Materials/Manufacturing Engineer

  • Materials and/or manufacturing engineer with specialization in ferrous metals
  • Understanding of production methods of heavy plate
  • Understanding of auditing process and assurance against materials specifications and standards
  • Experience in delivery, production and/or reviewing of experimental test plans
  • Must be a sole UK national
  • Must be eligible for SC clearance
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK
