Description For Project Engineer

Our client, a large government customer, is seeking a Project Engineer to join their team for the "Strike Network for Commando Force" project. This hybrid role is based in Bristol with site working required 2-3 times/week, and occasional travel to other sites. The role requires DV clearance and candidates must be sole UK nationals.

The Project Engineer will be responsible for delivering engineering deliverables and assurance for the project, which will deliver a modern and sophisticated communications system to specialist Commando Force operators. The assignment is in the Special Projects Tactical Communications Delivery Team (SPTC DT), reporting to the Portfolio 1 Lead Engineer.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining engineering artifacts (EMP, GEAR Review Reports, etc.)
  • Managing requirements, acceptance, and delivery of the system to the customer
  • Planning and contributing to the equipment safety case
  • Producing and maintaining system configuration baseline documentation
  • Producing and assuring technical requirements
  • Participating in identification, selection, evaluation, and demonstrations within their technical area

Essential skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of and experience working with modern communication systems
  • Professionally Registered status or equivalent
  • Membership in a relevant Professional Engineering / Science Institute
  • Relevant Level 4 (or higher) qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience providing technical advice and delivering successful engineering outcomes

The initial contract is scheduled to run until 31/03/2026 with a rate of up to £750/day. This is an Inside IR35 role, requiring candidates to operate through an umbrella company. Requirements For Project Engineer

  • Knowledge of and experience working with modern communication systems
  • Professionally Registered status or equivalent
  • Member of a relevant Professional Engineering / Science Institute
  • Relevant Level 4 (or higher) qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience providing technical advice and delivering successful engineering outcomes
  • DV clearance
  • Must be a sole UK national
  • Eligible to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
