Description For Systems Engineer - Resolute Valkyrie

Quast Ltd is seeking a Senior Specialist Systems Engineer for the RESOLUTE VALKYRIE programme within the MOD's UAS2 team. This role focuses on airworthiness and safety assurance for Unmanned Air Systems (UAS), ensuring compliance with MOD and DE&S corporate standards. The position is hybrid, based in Abbeywood, Bristol, requiring approximately two days per week on-site. The role involves leading engineering and safety-related workstreams, providing expert technical advice, and managing engineering assurance activities. The contract runs until March 2026, offering a competitive day rate of up to £410 (Inside IR35). The ideal candidate will have strong aviation engineering experience, particularly in UAS, and will be responsible for maintaining safety standards, managing technical assessments, and ensuring compliance with MOD requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced systems engineer to work on cutting-edge unmanned air systems while ensuring their safe and effective operation.

Responsibilities For Systems Engineer - Resolute Valkyrie

  • Support development and maintenance of Systems Engineering and Airworthiness policies
  • Lead safety and airworthiness governance
  • Develop and manage the Master Evidence Record
  • Manage Type Airworthiness Safety Assessment (TASA) sub-claims
  • Handle in-service occurrence reports and risk mitigation
  • Contribute to Release to Service Recommendations (RTSR)
  • Manage engineering aspects of systems integration
  • Provide technical problem-solving guidance
  • Oversee governance and assurance of system engineering processes
  • Define acceptance plans, performance criteria, and system specifications
  • Review technical changes and assess risks
  • Support Bowtie risk assessment development

Requirements For Systems Engineer - Resolute Valkyrie

  • SC Clearance and UK Nationals Only
  • Aviation Engineering experience (preferably UAS-related)
  • Experience in systems engineering, safety governance, and airworthiness compliance
  • Strong knowledge of safety assurance frameworks within MOD environments
  • Experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, and airworthiness case management
  • Proven ability to provide engineering assurance across the acquisition lifecycle
  • Willingness to travel within the UK
