Description For Weapons Integration Engineer

Quast Ltd is seeking a Weapons Integration Engineer to support the RESOLUTE VALKYRIE programme within the MOD's UAS2 team. This is a hybrid role based in Abbeywood, Bristol, requiring approximately two days per week in the office. The position focuses on aircraft weapon system integration, covering technical oversight, airworthiness, and compliance with UK defence standards.

The role involves managing weapon integration across the acquisition lifecycle, ensuring alignment with MOD regulations and operational safety requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing airworthiness strategies, providing technical risk management expertise, and overseeing system integration of the RESOLUTE VALKYRIE weapon system.

This is a contract position running until March 2026, offering a competitive day rate of up to £410 (Inside IR35, via an umbrella company). The role requires SC Clearance and is only open to UK nationals. The position offers an excellent opportunity to work with cutting-edge defense technology while ensuring compliance with strict safety and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will bring strong aviation engineering experience, preferably in UAS-related systems, along with comprehensive knowledge of weapon system integration and UK MOD safety regulations. Additional desirable qualifications include experience with MOD Aviation Delivery Teams, expertise in Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) methodology, and Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.

Responsibilities For Weapons Integration Engineer

  • Manage engineering aspects of aircraft weapon system integration and MOD acquisition safety standards compliance
  • Develop and implement airworthiness strategies
  • Provide expert advice on technical risk management
  • Support problem-solving activities related to weapon categorisation
  • Oversee technical system integration of RESOLUTE VALKYRIE weapon system
  • Ensure compliance with MOD Airworthiness Information Management
  • Lead development of acceptance plans, performance criteria, and system specifications
  • Work with industry and ATEC to review evidence for UK trials
  • Provide recommendations to Type Airworthiness Authority regarding safety restrictions

Requirements For Weapons Integration Engineer

  • Aviation Engineering experience (preferably UAS-related)
  • Knowledge of air system weapon integration and UK weapon system approval processes
  • Strong understanding of airworthiness compliance and UK MOD safety regulations
  • Experience in weapon system integration across acquisition lifecycle
  • Ability to liaise with industry and MOD stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel within the UK
  • SC Clearance required
  • Must be a UK national
