Senior DataDog Developer

Rackspace Technology is seeking a Senior DataDog Developer with 8-12 years of experience to join their Managed Public Cloud software development team. This role is 100% remote and focuses on a new product offering using DataDog for customer monitoring and alerting. The ideal candidate will be a specialist in DataDog, responsible for integration with Rackspace systems, configuration, and management.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating globally on various projects including cloud integrated services, customer interaction platforms, and backend business systems
• Working with Product teams to assess functional requirements and deliver innovative software
• Architecting production-ready software with a focus on system observability
• Leading research, proof of concept, and prototype efforts
• Establishing and adhering to coding and process best practices
• Participating in on-call rotations and maintenance schedules

Required skills:

• In-depth knowledge of DataDog features (dashboards, monitors, log management, alerting)
• Expertise in setting up DataDog agents across various cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with creating custom metrics, traces, and logs
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python
• Strong understanding of observability principles
• Ability to design and implement monitoring strategies
• Experience in setting up alerts, anomaly detection, and incident response workflows
• Strong communication skills

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field and 9+ years of relevant work experience. Cloud certifications are highly desired.
